Additional Ways to Get Involved
Visit the following websites for further information about Indian gaming:
“Stand Up For California is the preeminent organization in California giving voice to community groups, local elected representatives, members of law enforcement and individual supporters who are directly affected by the recent authorization of tribal casino gaming and issues of tribal sovereignty. We have been involved with this issue for many years and frequently serve as a resource to policymakers and elected officials at the state and national levels.”
“Why should Indians be given special rights to do what they please regardless of others or the environment? Having the right to determine your own destiny should not come at the expense of a community or the environment.” Scott Spurgeon Jamul
SYCUAN BAND OF THE KUMEYAAY NATION
The official website of the Sycuan band
Since the inception of our website, R.A.G.E. included a link to the website of the Sycuan band. We did so in the interest of fairness, so that visitors could hear our opponent’s side of the story.
However, in April 2007, Sycuan stole several versions of our website name, and made them point to their website. We wrote them a letter complaining, and threatening legal action (as if we could afford that!). They wrote back that any lawsuit would be futile, as they are a sovereign nation, and exempt from such legal challenges. Click here to see our letter and the Sycuan reply.
Given the above circumstances, we have now disabled our link to the Sycuan band website. We will consider restoring it if and when the Sycuan band disables our stolen website names. We don’t intend to let Sycuan play by different rules than we do, even if that is their preference.
CITIZENS EQUAL RIGHTS ALLIANCE
"'Federal Indian Policy is unaccountable, destructive, racist and unconstitutional. It is therefore CERA’s mission to ensure the equal protection of the law as guaranteed to all citizens by the Constitution of the United States of America."
COMMUNITIES UNITED TO STOP URBAN CASINOS
"Urban Indian casinos offer no net benefits to California's local communities or economies. These massive casino developments and their overwhelming negative impacts simply do not belong in urban areas of our state."
