Additional Ways to Get Involved
The Sycuan band has applied to the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) for a liquor license at its casino in the Dehesa Valley. This would be a disaster for local residents, who already must contend with aggressive, impatient traffic from casino patrons on Willow Glen and Dehesa Roads. Imagine the slaughter which would occur on those roads if liquor was authorized at the casino!
In order to defeat this application, all local residents need to file a Protest Form with the ABC no later than August 12, 2008. A public hearing may follow. Keep tuned to these pages for further information. File your Protest Form Now. You can make a difference!
Read about the liquor license application in a recent article from the San Diego Union-Tribune.
WELCOME to the website for R.A.G.E. (Residents Against Gaming Expansion)
.
We are a coalition of hundreds of local residents objecting to the expansion of Indian casino gaming activities in East County. In particular, we oppose further expansion by the Sycuan band of the Kumeyaay nation, which already operates one casino in the Dehesa Valley. We work closely with the Dehesa Valley Community Council (DVCC) and Jamulians Against the Casino (JAC).
We specifically object to the following features of the recently approved amended compact between the Sycuan band and the State of California.
It is our belief that the above developments, if allowed to proceed, would destroy the quality of life we enjoy in East County, San Diego. We live here for the beauty of the landscape, the privacy, the tranquility, the low crime rate, and the relaxed pace of life. Expanded gaming would vastly increase traffic, crime, pollution, and adversely affect property values. We believe there is no way to mitigate the effects of expanded gaming. We can't accept the presence of a Little Las Vegas in our midst!
